** please be advised rates will increase on an annual basis due to inflation and rising costs for maintaining clinical and business requirements for a sustainable practice.**

How can I pay for my sessions?

Accepted methods of payment are debit card, credit card, or HSA debit cards.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please remember to cancel or reschedule 24 hours in advance. You will be responsible for a $100 cancellation fee if cancellation is less than 24 hours, or if you do not show to session without any notice, unless due to an emergency.

Do you accept insurance?

Insurance is accepted for individual sessions. The only insurance that I accept at this time is Carefirst/Blue Cross Blue Shield or Cigna. If you do not have Carefirst, you are still able to be seen, but would have to pay out of pocket. I would then provide you with a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

**Please be advised that if you would like to use your insurance to access your out of network benefits, I will need you to sign a consent to release information for your insurance company, as well as be aware that I will have to provide you with a mental health diagnosis in order for the insurance company to pay for your sessions with me.**

What should I ask my insurance provider?

  • Do I have an out of network mental/behavioral health benefit?

  • Do I have a deductible that I have to reach before I can access that benefit?

  • If yes, have I met the deductible or how much more do I have to pay out of pocket to reach my deductible?

  • What is the reimbursement rate for out of network services?

  • Do you reimburse for the following CPT codes: 90837, 90846, 90847?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

Why don't you accept insurance for couples or families?

In order to use your insurance, I would have to give a mental disorder diagnosis. That would mean identifying one person in the couple or family as the one with the "problem."  Then I would need to submit paperwork to report the progress that is being made with the mental disorder, and submit those notes for insurance claim purposes as well. It is my belief that when it comes to relational issues, there are multiple factors at play. There are no diagnoses for relationship distress that are covered by insurance. Not to mention, it has been my experience that couple and family sessions have more intimate matters that clients would prefer to keep more private and not give to their insurance providers.

What type of therapist are you?

I am a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist (LCMFT). I specialize in improving intimacy by dismantling communication barriers and restoring trust and compassion. As a couple and family therapist I help individuals, couples, and families heal from emotional, mental, and psychological wounds. I take a collaborative approach with my clients to empower them to rebuild and maintain healthy, fulfilling relationships. I use techniques and approaches from Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when I am working with individuals. For my work with couples, I often draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method. Whether I'm working with individuals or couples, I believe it's important to assist clients with recognizing how their family dynamics and past relationships, are influencing their present so that they can create the future they desire. I am PREPARE/ENRICH Certified, which allows me to provide premarital couples with an in-depth look at their relationship and how to plan for their future together. I am also certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, which is a leading modality in treating trauma.
